Sonya Swan has been a community leader for the majority of her 27 year residency in West Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated as Valedictorian in high school and went on to hold leadership positions in the corporate world; developing teams and educational materials. Her strength was in creatively resolving challenges and coming up with win/win solutions.
When she arrived in West Des Moines years ago, she began teaching small classes in her home, serving parents and children. Before long, she was raising her own family of 4 beautiful daughters. She home educated her children, ran food co-ops, was active in the faith community, and served as a citizen advocate at the Iowa Capitol for many years.
In 2012 she became a single mom, with all the accompanying struggles. Using her passion for health education, combined with her community-building skills, she became an entrepreneur to support her family and built a thriving business and community of leaders. Helping others achieve their dreams and push through their obstacles is one of her many passions.
She now speaks nationally and internationally, on success principles, life skills, health and entrepreneurship. Her children inspire her every day to fight for stronger communities, medical reform, educational opportunities, environmental responsibility, and a healthier economy for all Iowans.
